here’s a guide for straight people, in case it isn’t clear in 2020, or what is and isn’t okay for you to say (a thread):
-no LGBTQ+ comments unless they are of you objectively being an ally and that’s it
-yes that means no “gay” jokes. i don’t care if your best friend is gay. YOU aren’t.
-stop fetishizing non-straight people or behaviors or relationships. WE ARE NOT HERE TO FEED YOUR KINKS.
-ENOUGH with the “i would turn gay dor _____” comments
-you do not get to say “gays” or “the gays” or ANYTHING like that
-it’s 2020 and i have to say this still but NO SLURS. i don’t care what you say. it’s not funny or cute.
-do not speak over us.
-don’t you dare play the victim if you’re straight and use sexual orientation as the punch line of a hit tweet. be prepared to face the consequences
-for the love of god, USE THE CORRECT PRONOUNS. IT IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT.
my identity is not your aesthetic. you don’t get the glory of pride and the luxury of ignoring the pain.

i’ll add to this thread as i think of more things that should be obvious but clearly aren’t.
