Sangatsu no Lion s2e4 hit really hard. I have been fortunate not to have experienced bullying in my life, and I can't remember any explicit examples I saw during my school days. That being said, bullying is a gravely serious topic, and it really hurts to see people go through it.
Chiho's situation is so tragic. Seeing people turn against her and ostracize her hurts tremendously, and I know this is very true to life. Seeing so many people turn a blind eye--including the teacher--is a great reminder of the importance of friends and not being a bystander.
Hina is such a great friend. She was not simply a bystander, and she stood up for Chiho when nobody else did. Disregarding the warnings of her classmates, HIna showed tremendous courage and did the right thing.
As a side note, I find that I have too often been a bystander when people have been in trouble. I tend to go with the crowd instead of against it. I am sorry to everyone who has been affected negatively through my cowardice, and I hope to be more like Hina in the future.
Very sadly, Hina became the next recipient of the bullying as a reward for standing up for Chiho, after Chiho changes schools. Hina now has to deal with the ostracization that comes with bullying, as well as the full effects of being bullied.
Thankfully, Hina has a great support group at home, with a loving family, and a caring friend in Rei. They listened to her and applauded her for her strength and courage to do what was right. While I don't yet know how this arc will turn out, that support is extremely important.
Family and friends who will care for those who are bullied and will stick up for them are incredibly important. I know this is not easy for HIna, but having Rei and her family with her will hopefully help her through this awful situation.
I love how Rei was saved by Hina from his dark and lonely state, and he will now do whatever he can to help her through her hard time. Rei understands the way Hina feels, so I hope he can reach her in a way that others may not be able to.
I want to end this thread with a reminder to everyone to be kind and nice to each other. Stand up against injustices and care for those around you. Let's all strive to be better people who spread love rather than hate. I can definitely grow in this area, myself. I love you all.
