Okay, let’s talk about C.O.P.S. Not to be confused with 1989 copaganda show COPS (or Cops), or any actual cops. https://twitter.com/RedConversation/status/1290141365288882177
I’m referring to C.O.P.S., the Central Organization of Police Specialists. Apparently, it aired in syndication after 1989 as “CyberCOPS”, to avoid confusion with the previously show, probably because police unions liked it more.
On Hasbro's end, the show was primarily funded to sell toys and it seems like it was more of a He-Man situation than say a TMNT or RoboCop situation. The show was based on 1988 Hasbro toy line called C.O.P.S. ’n’ Crooks. One of the crooks is literally named Louie the Plumber.
Real nice of nerds to have a bunch of unopened esoteric 1988 single-run toys in their original packaging but you know what, archiving is cool. Those nerds were right.
For real, that packaging goes a long way to explain this video I found. Oh right, it's basically a forgotten IP now so you can find *all of it* on youtube. If you want to watch it, it's here but you don't have to. I'm gonna take you through it here.
I spent 40 minutes of my life watching the badly named pilot, "The Case of C.O.P.S. File #1."
So it starts out by telling us "the Big Boss" is funding a high-tech crime spree because and just let that sentence, like, sit with you. You ready? Good, As you can guess, it never realistically depicts crime. Let's keep going, "Crime's a wastin'."
CW: Police Apologia. "Federal Assistance." Mayors.
Anyway, in a particularly cringey move, "Federal assistance" is the only black character. Also, the police are totally incompetent.
Anyway, using his unprecedented strategy of looking for evidence of criminal activity at locations of recent criminal activities and asking the police computer for basic info.

For context, in the 1988, a "police computer" is apparently a blonde lady with paperwork.
After an illegal search of Dr. Bad Vibes place, this federal agent then does an illegal search of the moving company, stowing away in their van and this is where it gets weird. i can't honestly describe this series of events within the character limit.
Anyway, the chase goes badly for Agent Vess and he promptly gets fatally injured.
