Beyoncé “Using Men to get a hit song” DEBUNKED: Thread
So throughout my time on Twitter there is one idea going around. That idea is that despite Beyoncé being all for feminism, she needed men to get hit songs and #1s. This thread is here to debunk that idea.
Let’s look at Crazy In Love
Here’s what Beyoncé herself said about working Jay on Crazy In Love.
If that wasn’t enough, let’s look at the end result. As you can see, Crazy In Love became Beyoncé’s 3rd Biggest Billboard Hit. As for Jay, that is his Biggest Billboard Hit.
There is also the fact that nobody knew that this song would be as big as it was. Of course there’s the story on how Columbia Records said “There wouldn’t be a single hit song on Dangerously In Love” but also the producer Rich Harrison said this in an interview.
Let me also add this fact in. Before Crazy In Love, Jay’s biggest hit on the charts was with Mariah Carey on Heartbreaker which peaked at #1 for 2 weeks. His biggest solo hit before CIL was IZZO which peaked at 8. Look at his chart performance before and after CIL.
Next let’s move on to Baby Boy.
Here’s how Sean Paul was added to the song.
Notice that she wasn’t even originally on the song. She wanted him on it because she thought it would sound good. There’s no idea that she wanted to have another hit.
Now let’s talk about Check On It.
It’s a short clip but it sorta closes the idea that she wanted a hit. It’s for the Pink Panther Movie and that song does go with the movie. As for the Slim Thug, I wouldn’t be lying if I said that there’s no way she wanted him on the song for a hit.
Here is Slim Thugs performance on the Billboard Hot 100 before Check On It.
So yeah Check On It is Slim Thugs biggest hit song. As for Bun B, he isn’t credited for the #1 for reasons that I know of but here’s how he performed before Check On It. (I’m also including the performance of the group UGK which he is apart of)
As for Ed Sheeran (Perfect Duet) & J Balvin (Mi Gente), here’s an image that just summarize it.
I also want to talk about Drunk In Love because people claim that once again Jay gave her another hit.
I’m just gonna debunk this with one clip. I won’t go into detail because that entire idea of Jay giving Beyoncé hits is plain stupid.
I’m gonna continue on with this thread by now focusing on the females. Why? Because a lot of people say “Megan did Charity” or “Gaga gave Beyonka her biggest song”
First Up, Beautiful Liar.
This clip basically explains how Shakira got on the track.
Now here’s Telephone
There isn’t really a clip to show but what I know is that Britney was originally supposed to be on this but she wasn’t on it so Beyoncé came it. This wasn’t the first time Bey and Gaga collaborated as there was the Video Phone remix. So it’s more of both doing 2 songs.
But I did look at a few behind the scenes videos of both songs and honestly they both are good with each other and it’s not just for commercial. But I do I have a clip on how Gaga got on Video Phone which might explain Telephone.
The last song that’s going to be talked about is, Savage Remix.
First I have this image. (Sorry for the low quality)
Secondly, here’s an interview. I suggest watching the whole thing to understand how it happened. (And no it’s not just Beyoncé leeching off of a new artists for a hit. Seriously that’s one of the dumbest statements I’ve heard.)
To close this thread I just wanted to say this.
Beyoncé doesn’t care about the charts. Stop putting this narrative on her that “oh she wants another hit song” or “She’s mad that her song flopped”. Is it hard to not put that narrative on her???
She does what she wants.
