It’s asinine to have an indoor show right now, but to attempt to wage a “complain to Cuomo” campaign on a venue is pretty inconsistent with the ACAB tweeting a lot of people decided was their new personality a month ago.
I straight up do not believe a lot of people are willing to reflect on how much better they have to be at having their beliefs be actual convictions, and how much that ultimately means sitting past the impulse of petty-tweeting
Please, for the love of fucking god, make sure that you’re doing twice as much IRL advocacy as you are whatever Second Life cosplay thing that this website is.
The government failed at every step of its pandemic response, and has made it clear that they’re not gonna help anyone hurting, an extension of a culture America has built up for generations. I’m horrified at how reckless some businesses are, but desperation is real right now.
Show shouldn’t have happened; no justification in using systemic discipline for a situation which left so many so desperate because that system doesn’t care about them.
I’d say it’s pretty clear I’m not into beat down bands, but I get catharsis of live music. I get wanting just a few hours to break the hell of your life. Given that leadership doesn’t care that we’re all dying, I suggest tempering our criticisms of what joys folx cling to in this
And yeah, there is significant health risks with that show or any indoor gathering being held, but again, the country’s leadership has given up, so this is unsurprising. We obviously should maintain safety protocols. And from the video I saw, looked like people were wearing masks
So, this wasn’t the same thing, to me, as some of this truly reckless shit like maskless packed parties. Moreover, if people are trying to congregate something (sub)cultural and help local biz, that’s a pretty meaningful thing for people at a time where depression is sky high.
I just defended a beat down show at Shakers pub. This is both a sign of 2020 and that I should further reconsider public defense.
