Since this tweet became a thing... let me say 2 things:
1) It was NOT Rookie Blue.

2) This is what happens when the big boss is an affluent str8 white person who has no understanding of the importance of OVERT rep. 1/4

I was told... "We don& #39;t identify the straight characters as straight (in dialogue). So we& #39;re not doing it with the lesbian."

I explained why that kind of rep is so important & was told, "Fine. You can put "lesbian" in the script, but I& #39;m going to cut it out in the edit." 2/4

Keep in mind, I was the co-showrunner and I had the support of the network & the studio.

The gatekeepers r gonna gatekeep until eventually you& #39;ve had enough & quit (no regrets) & they replace you and the other female co-showrunner w a straight white dude who toes the line. 3/4

Some advice: if ur writing for som1 who doesn& #39;t value ur voice, dismisses ur life experience & tries to muzzle ur agency, move on. SAVE YOUR STORIES FOR PPL WHO DESERVE THEM.
