ㅤㅤㅤㅤ HOW TO MAKE A CARRD
‍ ㅤa small guide with tips about the stuff i know ☆

ㅤ☆ ：please note that i'm not a professional! (whether that is a designer, coder, etc). i've learned this stuff by trial and error and i want to share what i know.

it's a lot easier than what you may think, i promise

carrd comes with a bunch of different templates you can choose from. i personally choose whatever since i'll be modifying them, but you can choose one of your liking (click "demo" to see a preview)

familiarise yourself with the basic layout, it may differe depending on the template you chose

you want to first decide the style of you carrd. the "page" is the place where all your text/images will appear on. play with the settings until you find a appearance you like

you've got plenty of choices available for the background, play around with them!

play around with colors, shapes, values etc. you should have something like this

save CONSTANTLY! my advice is that while creating the carrd you use a placeholder URL instead of saving as an offline draft, otherwise you can't interactively preview it.

starting with the fun part, text!
carrd comes with A LOT of fonts to choose from and it can be a little frustating to pick.

my personal advice is that titles should be on uppercases. pick colors that are easy to see or nobody will bother to read the carrd.

create as many styles as you want and save them. this will allow you to quickly configurate a new textbox. we aware that any changes you make while on a "style" will affect every textbox using that style, so we careful and create new ones when neccesary!

HOW TO CREATE A NEW PAGE/SECTION

you need to add both "control" and "container"

WHAT'S "CONTROL"?
the "divider", code that indicates carrd where a page ends and where another one starts.

WHAT'S "CONTAINER"?
as the name suggests, it's a box where you tell carrd what +

elements should be displayed during which page/section.
carrd automatically configurates it but you can change it to fit your needs (and just like textboxes, create styles)

but how do you see other pages/sections?

USING BUTTONS
("add" > "button")

change the url to the name of the control you want to link (in my case "control2")

if you want something (text, buttons, images) to always remain on the screen, add a control and change its type to "header/footer maker". add whatever you want to keep on top OR below it to make it work (see pictures)

MORE ABOUT BUTTONS

pages/sections from your own carrd aren't the only thing you can link, obviously. go ham with your socials of whatever you want!

GALLERIES

add as many pictures as you want. they could function as buttons, to display your art or simply to vibe and help personalise your carrd.

images on galleries as far as im aware can only be squares (circles if you mess with the setting "corner rounding") and can't display images that don't fit this size

individual images have more options to crop with they still kinda suck..

i forgot! if you want to have a button to make you return to the main page, either add a control or simply write "#" on the URL box

MORE ABOUT CONTAINERS

containers can be configured as columns (change the type to "columns") you can fill its content with either text, images, galleries, videos — whatever! even more divided containers to make a never ending cycle ooooooh spooky

ANIMATING SECTIONS

when you load a carrd, you may notice a small animation happening (contents slowly appearing on screen).

you change this on "page" on the triangle tab. this is were the "preview animations" option is helpful

if you want to quickly preview a section without constantly saving + clicking "view site" on the pop-up that appears afterwards, click on "sections" and choose!

(YOU CAN'T ADD MORE CONTROLS NOR COPY ELEMENTS ON THIS MODE, so switch back by pressing the arrow that appears)

you can copy elements by scrolling all the way down on its pannel.

and that's about it! go ham and create a pretty carrd! hopefully you found this guide helpful.

as a final note!

if you don't want to make anything fancy you could just create a simple carrd with:

— your pronouns
— 'before you follow/don't interact if' sections
— triggers

to avoid getting followed by people that may make you uncomfy.
