this is a great thread on how non BIPOC reylos should evaluate themselves when being criticised https://twitter.com/beegood_amy/status/1289983714412212225
I’m not very good with words, so I’ve mainly been retweeting others on this issue, but I hope y’all can understand that I stand with BIPOC reylos. We need to be actively anti racist and hold ourselves and BNFs accountable
-for the insensitive things they say and do. real people and their feelings are 100% more important than fandom unity, as much as some might hope for us to all get along. Many people treat fandom as an escape or a way to have fun with their friends from around the world,
-but this fandom can’t truly be a safe space until we take a hard look at ourselves and acknowledge the privileges we may have and how we’re actively fighting to be more inclusive. Ridding ourselves of racist ideals and biases that are built into our society isn’t easy
-and it isn’t meant to be. We’re all going to make mistakes at some point, but the important thing is owning up to your mistakes and apologising to the people you’ve hurt. listen to BIPOC reylos when they have concerns, especially if you are white, and support their work
i’m sorry my brain is fried this thread is all over the place 🥴
