The EARN IT bill passed a month ago. I’d like to take a moment to talk about my past reaction of the bill along with the community’s reaction to mine, and my present thoughts based upon the results.
The first commenter proclaimed “I don’t care” and showed how much he didn’t care by appearing around the comment section repeatedly expressing said lack of care. His account now seems be gone. The last comment from me to him here is the only surviving proof of the engagement.
Most of the comment section’s toxicity disappeared with the erasure of the first commenter’s original thread occupying most of the opposition. These are some miscellaneous pieces of what’s left of the comment section itself.
This thread is what I find to be the most interesting piece of it. Encapsulates the clash of fantasy and reality.
In summary, the comment section was a rude wake-up call to me of how naive people can be in the face of malice and how fiercely they are willing to resist to maintain the comfort of said naivety, for lack of a less dramatic description.
