Some totally unsolicited advice to young farmers from an "oldish" farmer
1. Acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses early when it comes to the farm
If you are strong with agronomy due to training but suck at marketing. Consider hiring someone when you aren't confident

2. Never try to keep up with the neighbours
It's a fools game and you will lose. Everyone's budgets are different so know yours!

3. Listen to those who have been through it before
Growing up I felt my dad knew nothing but now looking back I wish I'd have listened more and had those conversations. I'm not saying the old ways are best but glean the knowledge you can and it may just help you on your path

4. Balance out your time
If you have a young family it's important to commit time to them as well. The farm work is important but your mental health and the happiness of those around you is important also. Find your balance!

5. Treat those around you with respect and it will be returned to you.
If you happen to be a young farmer in a large operation it's amazing how your attitude can shape the future and success of the farm. At the end of it all the friends you make through business are invaluable

6. Be proud of being a farmer
If you are self motivated and have pride in what you do it is a road to success.
My dad loved farming just like me and the biggest lesson I learned from him was wake up every morning and put in the work and celebrate the day.
