Publicly available Victorian epidemiological data is currently insufficient. Transparency is critical for ensuring not only public health (enabling experts to review & conduct analyses) but also for accountability & good governance.

We really need more detail on what data the govt is collecting, beyond just counts & postcodes.
Experts calling for data from tested ppl:
- symptomatic status
- contact of a known case
- test turn around times

Clinical & epidemiology data is critical to assess:
- if control measures & tracing are working
- the extent of local transmission
- if testing/comms are reaching right communities
- how vulnerable groups are being affected

Timely for this: our committee @theNASEM published the below consensus study (link at thread end) with this useful table with more information on how clinical, epidemiological & viral sequence data is used and for #covid19 and for what.

And, finally, what data is being shared nationally? Our consensus study called for a US data architecture for national data sharing, inc. virus sequences.
