My top 10 scenes from the ORIGINAL TRILOGY: a thread.
#starwars #originaltrilogy
Number 10: Luke destroys the Death Star. This is the first moment we get to see Luke actually use the force. And the fact that Obi Wan helps him makes me happy. My boy Luke is amazing and this is just the beginning of his journey.
Number 9: Darth Vader vs Obi Wan. This scene is amazing. Knowing there’s a lot of baggage in this fight, knowing that the last time Darth Vader saw Obi Wan was when he nearly killed him, and seeing Vader trying to kill him out of pure rage is amazing. Luke’s reaction is sad, tho.
Number 8: the Tattoine scene. The only thing I wanna say about this scene is the score. It’s just amazing. Goosebumps every time.
Number 7: “no. I am your father.” Do I really need to explain? This is it. This is Luke’s lowest of lows in the OT. The face Luke makes when he realizes it’s true, even if he doesn’t want to admit it, is tragic. A very well acted scene. And goosebumps every time I watch this. +
+I actually watched this scene some months ago, before the virus, with a really good friend of mine, who knew almost nothing about Star Wars. She didn’t know about this scene. And the look on her face... I will never forget the excitement I got.
Number 6: Luke vs Obi Wan in TESB. “But you’re not a Jedi yet”. That like delivery is amazing. Knowing Vader is toying with Luke, seeing him actually struggle to fight and the cinematography of this scene is phenomenal. I just love this.
Number 5: Luke Skywalker fights on Tattoine. This fight is amazing for me. Seeing for the first time that AMAZING green lightsaber is one of the best feelings I have when watching this movie. It’s a great action scene, and it shows how badass Luke is.
Number 4: “you’ve failed, your highness.” This shows Luke’s character. This shows how he is the best Jedi ever. This shows he is the heroe. And it gives Vader a reason to come back to being Anakin. The face Palps makes realizing he won’t get Luke on his side... Chef’s kiss.
Number 3: Anakin’s death. I love Darth Vader. He’s my favorite character. And seeing him see his son for the first time with his own eyes... seeing Anakin realize he was saved by his son, and telling him to tell Leia he was right is just... beautiful.
Number 2: the ending. The music, the emotion, seeing Anakin come back as a force ghost is amazing. It just makes me so happy.
Number 1: Vader vs Luke. It’s my favorite lightsaber duel from the OT. It’s emotional. Raw. You feel the conflict in both Vader and Luke. The cinematography is amazing, and Palpatine’s laugh always makes me shiver. It’s just amazing.
End of thread! Now, I will say this: these last four scenes are my favorites. They are basically the last 20 minutes from the film. I love them all the same. They pretty much have the same grade.
