one of the first things that most doctors usually tell me is to, “stop eating fast food every day,”.... i don’t eat fast food at all. i count calories. i workout multiple times a day. i rarely drink coffee, soda or alcohol anymore. im always seen as, “less than,” bc of my weight.
and what’s even more fucked up is that most doctors don’t even believe me when i say any of that. i’ve had a doctor encourage starving myself because i lost weight and “it’s clearly working, so keep it up!”
my new endocrinologist told me to cut out fast food and refined grains and to develop workout habits... before i even had a chance to say anything. if you know me, you know i workout constantly, so that was a bit off putting. she made assumptions based on a number on a scale.
anyways, moral of the story... weight bias is just unfortunately so fucking real. never stop advocating for yourself because you’re more than any pre-conceived notion or chart or anything like that. you’re more than just a number.
