Facebook (ugh) reminded me that seven years ago today, I went to my first book signing. I, embarrassingly, didn’t know it was a thing, but I saw that one of my favorite authors, @bethrevis would be signing at the B&N by the Starbucks I worked at, and HAD to go. 1/
Before the event, Beth came into the Starbucks, and I was completely star struck, and said something creepy, like “I know your name” before writing “Beth” on the cup. My coworkers laughed at me for the rest of my shift. 2/
I can’t recall details from the event, but I do remember being overwhelmed. Even though I’d just written my first manuscript, I couldn’t imagine a future for myself where I would get to do what Beth did. After so many rejections, it seemed impossible. 3/
Fast-forward to earlier this summer, when @bethrevis was part of my book launch! 😱 (AND she blurbed my book!!) If you had told not-so-bb LB that would happen, she would have laughed in your face.
She had no tact and laughed when she was nervous. 4/
Actually, I still do that. 5/
Anyway, thanks to @bethrevis for being nice to the creepy Starbucks barista, and for, seven years later, being so kind and welcoming to the fledgling writer.

Dream big, kids.
