Once again, delighted to be listening to Canada's great storyteller, the late #StuartMcLean of #TheVinyl Cafe on @cbcradio on another Sunday this summer. Surely it could be possible to extend these scheduled 10 weeks into late summer, fall and to the end of 2020. His voice is a
solace for this world, it seems of great unrest. Although as I listen to his voice today telling yet another story with his insightful details, tears sneak out of my eyes as I reach for a tissue considering the stories he wasn't able to tell us as his days ended on Feb. 15, 2017.
Young still in years at 68, but much younger in heart than most 20 year olds today. His delight in the quirky and unique traits of individuals who were fictitious speaks to his unlimited imagination and gift of weaving his stories in a hilarious way as only he could. He is still
so missed. Missed by those in cities and rural areas of Canada who gathered around a radio (remember those?) for one hour at 12 noon. Time to listen to musicians he featured each hour, other occasional guests and even reading submitted stories sent in by listeners and fans of
Stuart's. We were all so enriched by listening to Stuart's stories each Sunday for those 22 years until his story time on earth ended. I have to wonder if he isn't in some imaginative way, still telling stories to entertain those who have 'gone' before us. I do like to think
those of us who loved Stuart McLean and his stories, his books, CD and tour appearances, we can all carry a bit of Stuart's whimsical approach to life with us. It can bolster us up during difficult times in each our own lives. This is an article about Stuart's life for those
unfamiliar with a real treasure, a true @HerosofCanada who is not forgotten, still loved, of Vinyl Cafe fame, our Stuart McLean.
