Gonna be sitting in the car for a few hours, so here's a thread that no one asked for of tips and things to know if you are planning on getting tested for covid.
(1) if you want a rapid test. Come with money in hand, insurance (at least in the state of va) is only covering the outsource test which h can take 7 to 10 days (sometimes sooner) to process.
(2) majority of the tests are a nasal swab, which the tester needs to put in each nostril for 6 seconds each. So take a deep breath in your nose before they go in and breathe out your mouth while they're up there, it makes it easier for you both, trust me.
(3) there are also the throat swab test, which is like a strep test in comparison (if you've ever been tested for strep) if you gag, (especially if you do this test yourself) thats a sign you got what you need.
(4) snacks and water are your friends! Yes, you're probably there for a rapid test, but with high volume in people getting tested, you won't be there for a rapid time. So be prepared.
(5) i also wanna strongly emphasize being patient and nice to your tester! They are extremely stressed and probably tired and risking their lives to make sure you are okay, so don't be rude!! I've seen so many people be tested being rude and gross to the limits about it.
(6) chances are its "curbside" testing which could mean a couple of things, either they call you in to a designated spot or come to your car so be prepared for both.
(7) recently found out about some "drive through" testing, which you have to do your own nasopharyngeal swab or throat swap. Uh, good luck with that, here's a video on how to do your own if you get this option.
(8) dont go get tested right before you have to go somewhere. For the love of all things bright and beautiful, stop doing this. Firstly, you don't know if you are positive about to go spread it, and secondly, its probably buY where you are getting tested. Go at a good time.
(9) If you have to go Inside to a designated location, 16 and up, one person at a time, social distancing is still important in the offices. And the location is probably at the entrance so, keep that in mind that people have to go in and out.
(10) did I mention to be nice to your tester? Because if so, here is another reminder.
If I think of something else, or if there's any more tips you personally wanna do, just throw them in this thread! Until then,
