If you are reading these tweets, I am in jail now along with several fellow organizers and activists. My partner is sending these drafts on my behalf. I am now a political prisoner. The @WichitaPolice and, I suspect high ranking City officials, have been trying to intimidate me.
They had/have (can’t tell I’m in jail now) been camped outside of my house since 4PM yesterday, probably longer. 4PM is when they started banging on my door. I answered to 3 officers. I was home alone. They asked me several times to leave the house, and asked about protest plans.
I know now it’s because they wanted to get me past the threshold to arrest me. They wanted protest plans too, probably to arrest others. This is why we cancelled the march. We did not care so much that they were coming for us, but if they came for the rest of you, the people....
who have supported us and backed us so fiercly and bravely, we could not guarantee you getting in and immediately out. We don’t know your records and priors. I know it seems like we are “giving in” to intimidation and scare tactics, but I promise you, we are not.
I and other organizers know we risk arrest and death for Black Liberation. We risk bodily harm and our own peace of mind to dismantle the white supremacist violence of the police state, to face white violence head on as we did so many times over our three days of marching.
But urgency is a tool of white supremacy. We must fight the spontaneity and opportunism of this violence with prescience and calculation. We are sorry to disappoint you by cancelling yesterday’s march, but had we left our homes to join you, had we not disbanded the group, had
we not taken the caution and time when the police came for us initially, we would have given into that fear tactic in the exact way the police wanted us to. (We also would have been arrested, in jail, and y’all would‘ve been like “where tf they at?” come 7PM at Century 2 lol.)
We will be in jail anywhere from a few hours to over night since court does not open til Monday morning, but that’s okay. We will take the time once we are released to regroup, reassess, and come back even stronger. We will fight whatever bullshit charges they throw at us.
We are calm. We are at peace. We are confident in our actions over the weekend. We know we only ever acted in self defense and the defense of others. We never vandalized property. We picked up our own trash and the litter on the street that was not ours.
On Friday we faced down many instances of cars and motorcycles running into us, ACCELERATING into us. In Delano were armed, yes, yet not one of us drew our firearms. We were able to use our words to deescalate most situations and get people to turn around.
This is the power we have when we stand together. This is the power we have when we use our words. This is the power we have when we meet our opponent with superior means. We are better than the alt-right counters who tried to kill us with their vehicles, who pointed their guns,
who threatened crowds with families and children in them, who hopped curbs and tried to ram vehicle blockades. We are superior in motivation and in action. We will not be intimidated.
We are better than the stupid fucking pigs who were present at every action yet did nothing to stop alleged “crimes” as they were allegedly being committed, then chose to release a vague propagandist, racist dog whistle of a statement to associate our protests with said “crimes.”
The pigs have done nothing but prove our point either way. If any “crimes” were being committed, they did nothing to prevent them even though they were only two blocks away. Since we did not commit any crimes, they are giving us trumped up charges to scare and intimidate us.
In conclusion, FUCK THE POLICE. FUCK THE CITY. FUCK THIS BULLSHIT. WE WILL EMERGE FROM JAIL STRONGER AND DEFEAT YOUR PETTY ASS CHARGES. AND WE WILL BE BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!
It is a radical love that motivates me, to fight. A radical love for my people abd humanity, and I love you all. In the words of Brother Fred Hampton, peace to you, if you’re willing to fight for it.
