I have a lot of friends that as soon as they release their art to the world they feel like they can do better next time, that they’ve already outgrown it
I always feel the opposite. Like every NBA player that thinks they’re the best in the league, I think all four of our records are masterpieces.
Zeal is a masterpiece. The Beauty Between is a masterpiece. Beyond Control is a masterpiece. Becoming Who We Are is a masterpiece. They all speak worlds of meaning and feel deeply. I can always cry and smile listening to every one of them.
4 masterpieces in 6 years. Don’t @ me. I believe in what we’re doing 💯
All that to say, we’re in the middle of writing right now and it’s always terrifying because to me, the standard is absurdly high.
We have a lot to say. But we gotta say it with as much beauty, precision and power as we always have.
And while I’m ranting here...Most if the time I can swim in the sea of 100% gratitude with what Kings has accomplished. You all supporting us, a ridiculously difficult band to describe or market. But you’ve gotten onboard. And we’ve been around the world with you 🙏🏽
At the same time...it is LUDICROUS that we are generally unknown in wider circles. Our records, live performances, ideas, worlds and merch are miles ahead of some of our peers who get way more visibility (don’t take that negatively). We are the tip of Spear.
I get it, the old lanes that prop up “Christian” art were never going to be our home, and what other lanes were there? So we’ve been blazing our own this whole time.
It’s been a decade since I longed to flip American Christian art on its head and made a live Good Friday EP to start pushing it over.
Who’s gonna curate the future lanes? Who’s owning all these playlists? These dying “Christian” festivals?

There will be a post conservative/evangelical/political representation of faith and art, and I’m ready to get it GOING.
