Things I have learned while nursing my dad, a short thread 1/?
It really is a circle of life. His needs are so simple now: love, comfort, and kindness. Also the occasional nappy change 2/?
Dying at home is not as idyllic as you might think. The patchwork of agencies providing care do their best to cover everything, but are so overstretched 3/?
Carers and nurses are not paid nearly enough for their work for the patient and also supporting families 4/?
We are all so deeply human that it hurts. So many of the carers have had tears in their eyes. Carers and nurses ask us how we are, and mean it. I’d never seen such good in people before 5/?
As emotionally draining and physically exhausting as this has been, I am glad beyond words that I have been here. 6/?
The light bulbs in my parents flat are WAY too bright 7/7
