I'm seeing this back and forth a lot, and it's kind of draining me on both fronts. On the one hand, yes, Sega HAS been silent on Sonic in terms of game announcements this year, but they've been far from silent when it comes to literally everything else so far. https://twitter.com/Sonickick2/status/1289755954674724868
I mean freaking Alex Kid is back guys, I never would have predicted this from modern Sega. And pretty much everything else listed in this thread is a pretty legit example of how Sega, while yes not "directly" creating new titles of every IP
is STILL doing whatever it takes to make sure that they are getting new life and care with talented developers. They are making sure that good content is being created. And even jumping back to Sonic again, I've said this before and I'll say it again:
2020 is NOT in a "Sonic drought". The movie literally came out at the beginning of the year, the home release dropped just a few months ago, the sequel announced a mere month ago, the comics keep chugging along, comic characters have jumped into the mobile games,
oh yeah, and freaking Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, so far the ONLY version of the 2020 Olympics that's actually happening in 2020 as originally intended.
Literally the only thing missing is a new Sonic game announcement, and if that's the only thing you care about and literally nothing else I listed interests you in the slightest, believe it or not, I get it.
