if you came from tik tok and migrated to stan twitter; here’s some lingo, terminology, stuff to look out for and more!
“your layout clapped” that means that your layout (your profile pic and header) is ugly/doesn’t match. on the left is a “clapped” layout and on the right is a non-clapped layout.
“how do i not have a clapped layout?” the most common thing to do is to find a header that matches the background of your icon (pfp). if your icon has a black background, find a black header.
don’t have an extremely busy bio that’s just full of the fandoms you’re in or inside jokes of your fandom, it’s ugly and doesn’t look cute. instead put a quote of your fave, have a bio chain with someone, lyrics, etc. here’s some examples of good bios
PUT YOUR PRONOUNS IN YOUR BIO/LOCATION! if you don’t put your pronouns, a lot of people will call you out on it. putting your pronouns on your acc normalizes it for trans people and won’t automatically out someone as trans/non-binary!
PUT YOUR AGE IN YOUR ACCOUNT! a lot of people aren’t comfortable following someone’s who’s 13 or following someone over 25. if someone’s acc is only for ppl 18+ please don’t follow it. tik tok is a lot more regulated and censored than twitter. they could be posting porn or smut
“what is a moot?” a moot is a shortened term for mutual, which is an account that follows you and you follow them.
“what is an oomf?” an oomf is an acronym for “one of my followers”, it’s usually used for non mutual followers but can be used to refer to your mutuals
don’t have autocaps on, you WILL get bullied until you turn it off. same with light mode, you will get bullied when you post twitter screenshots
make a curious cat! a curious cat is a question asking app where people can ask you questions and you can share the question and your answer on twitter, here’s mine, so you know how it looks like https://curiouscat.qa/thegoldenhallway
DON’T MAKE FUN OF THE K-POP STANS OR THEIR IDOLS! that’s pretty much the number one rule every non kpop fandom has. they will send you death threats and might even doxx you. the kpop stans are ABOVE YOU, you are not better, do not test them
find out what are your sister fandoms! sister-fandoms are different fandoms that have a close relationship. ie selena gomez and taylor swift are sister fandoms! (i made the term sister-fandom to describe the relationships between fandoms, it’s not a recognized term)
“what’s a manip/edit” a manip or edit is an edited picture of you fave/faves. it might have your fave in a hairstyle or outfit you wanna see them in or with another celebrity you want to see them with!
“how will people know what fandoms i’m in if i don’t put it in my bio?” you can make a pinned thread or a carrd! a carrd is a info graphic that you can put anything in! warning that carrds are hard to make and you don’t have do it and thats why a pinned thread is an alternative
here’s a carrd so you get an idea! (all carrds look different as you can design it in any way that you want) this carrd is @minajamaisvu https://minajamaisvu.carrd.co/
here’s a list of things than any stan (or decent person) should NOT be:

- homophobic
- transphobic
- misogynistic
- islamaphobic
- anti-semitic
- a zionist
- racist (towards ANY race)
- anti-blm
- a trump supporter
- a pedophile
if you see any account with the words MAP or ZOOPHILE, block and report them, especially if you’re a minor. a MAP is a “minor attracted person” AKA a pedophile. a zoophile is someone into a beastiality (fucking animals)
“what’s a streaming party?” a streaming party is where you listen to a song/album as much as possible to raise their streams or to try and get them a number one hit or album. here’s a thread on how to stream (this example is for watermelon sugar) https://twitter.com/gienneazoff/status/1289590314282258432
“what’s a hit tweet?” a hit tweet is a tweet that did really good/went viral! if you have 100 followers, a tweet getting 2k likes would be a hit tweet. an example of a hit tweet: https://twitter.com/gguksluz/status/1289374392007319552
WARNING FOR STRAIGHT PEOPLE! a lot of people make straight jokes where they make fun of straight people. do NOT compare the jokes to homophobia or get offended. they’re jokes and they’re still going to be made even if your offended.
if you don’t want to see those tweets, you can mute the following words and phrases:

- hets
- breeders
- i hate straight people
- the straights
- straight people
SAME WITH WHITE PEOPLE! people make a lot of white jokes, so don’t get offended or compare it to RACISM, here are some words you can mute:
- crackers
- colonizers
- mayo people
- the wh*tes 🤢
- white people suck
- white people ruin everything
“what are those weird emojis and numbers people have in their names?” they’re identifying symbols to identify what fandom you’re apart of! louis tomlinson fans have the number 28, bts fans have the number seven! i’m gonna link some tweets that explain some symbols! https://twitter.com/iovingiesbians/status/1288518051252633600
now i couldn’t find a lot of them, but the h in my dn is for harry styles and the shooting star is in memory of naya rivera https://twitter.com/etherealjades/status/1287823726713634816
