I have almost entirely stopped believing in Mental Health Diagnosis™ the way it exists today. The model fits people into labeled boxes, then treats the boxes.

Harm reduction and symptom management should ABSOLUTELY be the core of treatment.
It’s spectrums all the way down. Everyone is somewhere on every spectrum. You just can’t write that into a fancy book.
Even fucking “neurotypical” is just a loose category we decided was the correct place to land on each spectrum.

Have you EVER met a human being with no screws loose? EVER?!
“Depression and anxiety” are the mental equivalent of “ headache and congestion”: they come free with basically every malady
And the worst part is???????

LABELING PLACES ON THE SPECTRUMS HELPS.

I’m not some anti-science asshole. Labels are good, important, helpful, etc etc. Learning what labels are Yours is a huge part of taking care of yourself.
But we fucking fetishize Our Labels. “Hi, I’m a normal person, except I have Depression.” Cool. For a while, I was the person going “hi, I’m a normal person, except I have DID.” It’s not a fucking personality trait and I hate that I was like that.
Ironically, this rant is getting out of control because my medication is wearing off.
