I'm tired of the word "normalize"
every week there's some tweet that goes around like "Can we just normalize shitting in the toilet" that has 20k retweets
can we just normalize falling down the stairs instead of walking

it saves a lot of time
you can just have an opinion about something

you can just do a thing

you don't have to normalize it or whatever
The internet was always going to change the way people have, will, and do communicate with each other and so everything has become a grand statement instead of just a

You know

A regular sentence
Every sentence has become that "It's almost like those are my dipping mustards but go off" tweet
I remember I was doing a Twitch stream with some friends and I was playing Dreams while we chatted and some rando was like "You know there's co-op games in Dreams" and we responded with how we're all in different parts of the country
And the person responded with "I was talking about couch co-op but go off I guess" and I wanted to suplex them through the core of the earth
talk to me like we're both people and not characters in a TV show with "snappy" and "witty" dialogue
I'm gonna tie this back into a point I was making last night because The Rules Of Internet Communication were decided by a majority of white guys using forums and chat rooms https://twitter.com/TheBlackNerd/status/1289756497010929665
- Talk like a Joss Whedone character
- Sincerity is bullshit, sarcasm is king
- Don't be offended by anything because that means you care about something
I've been Online too long
TL;DR

treat others how you want to be treated
I lose followers every time I tell people that just because this is the internet, that doesn't mean you can talk to a stranger any way you please
