There are still white families in Los Angeles living off of the wealth they earned from selling the land that became Santa Monica and Malibu. Yet these people were forced to become line cooks.

This same story— of black people building wealth only to have it stolen by jealous whites — repeats itself in every state in our country.

If not for racism, the Bruces couldve been a cultural force in Los Angeles like the Skirball family — which sold its beachfront hotel in San Diego for 52 million dollars in the eighties. Anyway, “progress!”
