There's just something awful about this time of the year. From rememberance days of the Barzan Anfal, to the Yazidi genocide, to the Kuwait war. It's a reminder that this land has been involved in so much historical oppression of minorities and bloodshed.
It's also a reminder that this land became ploughland for ignorance and intolerance. It's a reminder that our population was and is sheep for slaughter and while outside influences are definitely to blame, we are to blame as well.
I'm tweeting in a language that most the population won't understand on a platform that most don't use. Some of us are out of touch with reality while most are out of touch with the truth.
It's really hard to see a future in/for this place.
It's difficult to want to make societal change when the majority doesn't want it. In this place, logic is rejected to protect the sanctity of topics no one really bothers to read about.
I'm just venting here to be honest. I'm not an activist.
We need a social revolution now more than ever, we need real education, we need social reform. Compulsory programs.
Anyway. Remember to read up on Yazidis and Kurdish involvement in their oppression. Least we can do is listen.
