today i woke up and thought about "honsool", and i remembered that i saw someone mention that when yoongi sings "now i'm feeling like i'm flying", the notes actually go lower as he sings "flying". in music, sometimes a technique called text painting is used. it's when the music +
is composed to reflect the song's lyrics, and an example would be if yoongi had went higher and higher as he sang "flying". but instead, he did the exact opposite, creating this contradiction.

i think that the fact that he sings "flying" while the notes fall lower shows that +
this isn't a light, soaring kind of flying that he's talking about. it's more disoriented and dizzy, which he's weighed down by, which does indeed correspond with the lyrics as a whole. so in a way, the text painting is still accurate!
ALSO i remembered seeing someone say that yoongi's flow in "honsool" comes in waves. i definitely agree with that, and i think that the parts where he breaks up his flow into little phrases is especially noteworthy. because since they're so short, they give the impression that +
he's just trying to make it to the next line, because he's weary at the end of a long day. the fact you can hear his breathing in between each phrase emphasizes that, because it sounds like he's almost out of breath at the end of the phrases, but then he takes in another breath +
to push on, just trying to get through it. it makes it sound like he's exhausted, which again corresponds with the lyrics!
so once again in today's episode of yoongi being a genius. they just keep on coming!
oh and before i forget, special thanks to @HOTYPRODSUGA for reminding me i should listen to this song more! thank you for helping me to think about "honsool" more. :)
