News editors ( and I am not talking about now) are obsessed with Bollywood. They are star struck, repelled, fascinated, resentful all at once. Most of them don't understand films - but because they think it is lightweight die to do star interviews.
News editors don't believe interviewing someone from the film world needs any domain knowledge or insight. But they crave to do it - in a odd mix of condescension and fandom. They all look faintly ridiculous doing it.
News Editors don't have the bandwidth to look beyond stars. They don't want technicians/ directors. They will talk with great expertise about cabals/ cliques but the minute a star walks into their studio, become complete star struck, simpering messes.
Generally, tv news in this country now doesn't have editorial integrity. But it was always dispensable when it came to films. Across board.
