Great deal of preparation going on for the Bhūmi Pūjā. Ayodhyā has been decorated like a bride, indeed.
Takes one back to that part of Rāmāyaṇa when Mithilā must have been decorated like that, during Sītā Kalyāṇa.
I had read a while ago a short text called सीता-विवाह-चूर्णिका. It is prose which described the grandeur of the whole atmosphere that day when मैथिली, the Princess of मिथिला, was given in कन्यादान to Srī Rāma, the Prince of अयोध्या.

How was the hall? Relish the language & then read the meaning!😍
नानाविध-वर्ण-स्वर्णपुष्प-स्तबक-कोटि-देदीप्यमान-मलय-चन्दनागुरु-गुग्गुलु-गोघृतादि-दिव्यपरिमल-वासना-वस्तु-घुमघुमायमान-सभान्तरे [जनक-नृपतिः सीतां समर्पयामास]
The short answer is: it was bright and it was fragrant. But look at the description!
[There were] crores (-कोटि-) of bunches (-स्तबक-) of golden flowers (-स्वर्ण-पुष्प-) of varied hues (नानाविध-वर्ण-) lighting up (-देदीप्यमान-) the insides of the hall (-सभान्तर).
[There were] the sandalwood from Malaya area [present day Western Ghats] (-मलय-चन्दन-), aguru [fragrant aloe wood](-अगुरु-), guggulu [a fragrant resin that exudes from Amyris agallochum](-गुग्गुलु-), ghee of desi gau (-गो-घृत-) and such like (-आदि-) aromatic (-वासना-वस्तु-),
divine perfumes (-दिव्यपरिमल-) that made the hall (-सभान्तर) redolent (-घुमघुमायमान-).
In such a hall did the guests land to witness the Sītākalyāṇa and there did Janaka Mahārāja give away Sītā to Śrī Rāma.
The hall also had a lot of mirrors on its inner walls: निरन्तर-मणि-खचित-मुकुर-परम्परे [सभान्तरे]
They were not merely ordinary mirrors. They were a series of mirrors (-मुकुर-परम्परे) that had dense (निरन्तर-) inlay work done with valuable jewels (-मणि-खचित-).
And I am sure that on the day of the Bhūmi pūjā we shall hear various vādya-s filling all the directions with reverberations.
During the Sītākalyāṇa, this was the scene:
भेरी-मृदङ्ग-मद्द्ल-काहल-दुन्दुभि-तुरीय-तुम्बुरु-वीणा-वेणु-नूपुर-मड्डक-डिण्डिम-डमरुक-जज्झरि-झल्लरि-धवलशङ्ख-पणव-पटहाद्यष्टादश-वाद्य-घोष-सन्तत-शब्दायमान-सकल-दिगन्तरे
The hall was filled will the reverberations of the constant sounds of eighteen (or more) different instruments.
These included percussion instruments like भेरी, मृदङ्ग, मद्दल, डिण्डिम, stringed instruments like वीणा, wind instruments like flute (वेणु) and white conch (धवल-शङ्ख) and metallic instruments like नूपुर.
We all are so looking forward to the day which will mark the starting of the rebuilding of a Bhavya Rāma Mandira, and rightly so! We are the lucky generation getting to witness an event that has been awaited for half a millennium!
