The trouble with saying you oppose the "occupation" is that you never specify which thing Jews are occupying. The West Bank? Israel itself? Any nation of the diaspora? Oxygen?
There was no "occupation" of the West Bank before 1967, yet still we had no peace. There was no "occupation" of our homeland in Israel before 1948, and still we had no peace. There was no "occupation" of our host nations for almost 2,000 years, and still we had no peace.
Thank you all for your contributions to this thread. When I was in charge of "peace talks" coverage as managing editor of JTA in the late '90s and early '00s, I learned that when Palestinians say "occupation," they mean all of Israel. A 2-state solution has always been a mirage.
