this is a part of college sports that i think a lot of folks don't understand b/c they just see the glitz of a facility https://twitter.com/bomani_jones/status/1289919415991984128
the goal of the facility wars are:
1-keep athletes at the facility for as long as possible
2-show off to help in recruiting
3-spend the money
but in keeping athletes isolated at the facility you're not letting them have a more true college experience. they don't feel like a part of the school, just the football program; something mentioned by kids at iowa, clemson and other schools recently
it looks super cool on your visits and then you get to school and realize "i never use this" or "i'd rather be at my dorm/apartment but can't" and you learn that it's a show when you redshirt and have to organize or clean to put the show on for the new round of recruits
finishing a beat down leg circuit and then you have to go back and rack every weight so that it is team logo facing out, upright
