Why are we wary about atheists in polytheistic circles? Despite the fact that no, they don't belong there, every time they bring up a zoo post or a "respectfully seeking answers" post it ends in insults. It ends in "I don't care about your opinion."
Every fucking time this happens. And then people on both sides, the atheists and newer lib pagans who don't know the way of it, screech about gatekeeping and how mean we are.

Very, very, infrequently, to the point where I don't even consider it possible, we get atheists..
Who are respectful. Those people often become polytheists because they really weren't atheists, but agnostics who had been exposed to a lot of toxic rhetoric. And they've become some of the best polytheists I know, with true, earnest belief.
But people don't understand that we NEED clearly defined spaces, and people who say that we shouldn't are just trying to exert hegemonic power over the dialogue, because Western (Esp. American) civ is founded in a One Truth, No Exceptions, thing.
They don't try to find accord or plurality, they try to lure us in with honey and "allyship", and then they try to dissect and destroy our nascent communities. Because they cannot exist in a world where there's so drastically a difference of thought.
