The way Weeekly was formed is crazy to me. Soojin, Jiyoon, and Soeun are the OGs and were trainees since Loen. Then Monday and Jaehee joined when they became Fave Ent. Then when Fave and Plan A merged, Jihan came from Plan A. And lastly Zoa joined when they became Play M.
They went through like five or six lineup changes, Jesus Christ...
Loen girls was supposed to debut in 2018 as a group of 7 members (3 of them who were Jiyoon, Soeun, and Soojin) and another 3 who were already super popular trainees among the public.
But then the 3 popular trainees left when Loen became Fave Ent and it was back to the drawing board and now more trainees could compete to be in the final lineup that was now rumored to debut in 2019.
This is were the company narrowed it down to a new lineup of 7 girls and also when Monday and Jaehee came in. They went from the original 7, to like 12 trainees fighting for a spot, to another final 7.
They had various showcases and platforms to promote them. Like this seemed to be it. This lineup WAS going to debut in 2019 and the future looked bright for them.
But guess what? Fave Ent went through a change again! They were going to merge with Plan A Ent, another company with their own trainees (which Jihan was under!)
They went from “The Final Lineup 2.0” to a total of 16 TRAINEES.
Plans to debut in 2019 were out of the question as now, anyone was game to debut in “The Final Lineup 3.0” for the new girl group of what is now Play M Ent. This was also when Zoa joined as a trainee. It almost seems like she waited till all the company changes were over with.
FINALLY, Play M narrowed down the lineup to a new 7 girls FOR REAL THIS TIME to what we know are the girls of Weeekly! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
And that is my terrible watered down summary of how Weeekly came to be 🤧 If you haven’t yet, pls listen to their debut song Tag Me as well as their debut mini album We Are if you can 💕💕 Weeekly is a group of 7 super talented girls and we wouldn’t have it any other way 🥰🥰
