Built by the kings of the Rashtrakuta dynasty, the Kailasa temple is the world's largest monolithic structure. More than 200000 tonnes of rock was excavated to carve this temple. It represents Mount Kailasa or Kailash, the Himalayan abode of Lord Shiva.
