Treblinka was 1/4 camps linked to Operation Reinhard. Known as Treblinka II, it opened in July 1942 about a mile from a labour camp, Treblinka I.

On July 22 1942 systematic deportation of Warsaw's Jews began. 1000s were daily rounded up & transported 50miles to Treblinka. 2/11
The Nazis & their collaborators killed 925,000+ Jews at Treblinka II, as well as an unknown numbers of Poles, Roma, & Soviet POWs.

Afterwards the camp, which had suffered extensive fire damage during the revolt, was dismantled & evidence destroyed.

This photograph, from @YadVashem collection, shows the armoury building at #Treblinka, also known as the Tyrolean guard tower.
Weapons from the armoury were seized and used by prisoners during the camp uprising of August 1943. 6/11
Kalman Teigman was deported to Treblinka on 3/4 Sept 1942 along with his mother Tema, from Warsaw. She was gassed immediately whilst he was selected for work.

He would gave testimony about the Treblinka revolt at the Eichmann trial on 6 June 1961 in Jerusalem, Israel. 7/11
Just 67 people are known to have survived the camp, & their testimony provides most of what is known about the camp.
In 2016, Samuel Willenberg, the last Treblinka death camp survivor & revolt participant, died, aged 93 in Israel. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35623492 8/11
This map was produced by Treblinka survivor Samuel Willenberg, & published in his book in 1989. Samuel only had access to the Reception Camp area as he worked sorting the clothes of victims.
