It must be the summer holidays because I've unfollowed lots of accounts that go very political when school's out

A reminder of why traditionalist education is a natural fit for leftists:
- knowledge is powerful and a knowledge-rich comprehensive education system re-balances power
- knowledge creates students with the confidence and facts to challenge unjust authority
- education is formative and a focus on knowledge for-its-own-sake and beauty for-its-own-sake creates well-rounded young people who can interact with a cultural and intellectual world in whichever ways they need to
- there is nothing that says knowledge-rich curricula have to conform to conservative values, there is no neutral position to write a curriculum from so don't buy into the idea that tradition or knowledge must mean the embedding of conservative values.
- warm-strict teaching and a clear, authoritative teacher presence creates calm, quiet, ordered classrooms and corridors where the weakest are protected and lifted up in a community of learners.
- young people do not thrive when they are bored or unchallenged or left to their own devices - a traditionalist approach realises how precious school time is and seeks to maximise that time to put all students on a level playing field with the privately educated
- it cannot be denied that working class young people will materially benefit from an ordered, calm school, from a rich cultural knowledge, from the joy of learning and from the best exam results they can achieve.
- as a teacher who wants to give young people the best start in life I am most interested in what will materially benefit them.

A lifelong love of knowledge will.
A school free of mob rule will.
A culturally literate character will.
Good exam results will.
