Surprises me that so many people seem to think Havertz might signal the end of Chelsea& #39;s summer. It won& #39;t. Chelsea WILL be buying defenders. They WILL buy at least one goalkeeper. I suspect a midfielder comes in too. Ignoring whatever happens next week against Bayern (continues)
It has been a successful first year. We should be nowhere near the Top 6 with our current squad quality and depth. Too many aged players, too many average players. Lampard knows this and I trust him to address it. Look at Werner. Ziyech. Havertz. Names like Oblak.
Just remember the magnitude of this season. To give you some equivalences for other top 6 clubs to be in our situation:
Arsenal: PEA sold last summer, no Pepe, no Tierney, have to rely on Nelson, Willock, Saka, Nketiah all season.
Where would they be without Auba for starters?

United: Sell Pogba, no AWB, no Maguire, have to rely on Gomes, Chong, Laird, Tuanzebe all season.
Spurs: Sell Kane, have to rely on Parrott, Tanganga.
Liverpool & City would probably be okay, but both would struggle in some games without Agüero or Salah respectively.

Imagine where Leicester would have be if they had no Vardy, Wolves with no Jíminez and no chance to replace them? Factor in our terrible injury record. Yesterday: poor- no escaping that. But, if I had offered you CL football after we lost 4-0 at United, you& #39;d bite my hand off.
