I live 10-15 minutes away from the Ware State Prison. Here’s what happened.
Late last night around 10:20-10:30 pm power went out in a vast amount of Ware County. No reason given except a “main line blew.” That’s all we were told. A huge black out. My power didn’t come back on until 11:15.
Posts started going on Facebook abt something going on at the prison around 11:30. No one could figure out what. By 11:45 we all knew a riot had broken out, but no one knew of what.
According to many posts, some even by inmates’ family members, the inmates weren’t being fed. Air circulation was being cut off. Some couldn’t take showers for days. Tensions were high due to another inmate dying two weeks ago.
There’s another issue of contention: COVID-19. According to several sources, including AJC, several inmates and employees are COVID positive. Here’s the kicker: no one was being separated.
Inmates have been complaining for weeks. No one has listened. COs are willing to come forward about the Warden, who’s been a ringleader in the neglect and mistreatment of these inmates.

I held the March Against Injustice at the beginning of June to stand against inequality. I helped get the Hate Crime Bill passes with the Georgia Coalition Letter Project. Please retweet this so the corruption can end.
Update: many are calling out our sheriff, Randy Royal due to misinforming the public? I have zero idea how credible this is, but this is a popular sentiment right now online in our community.
Former CO posted this. Consider the outage having any correlation out of the picture.
