A STORY ON NOT SETTLING- I remember when I was looking for a place to live and I had written down a list of things I wanted. The area , the type of house , and of course the budget ! Lol well the house I wanted didn’t fall into my budget. As I looked I became desperate.
And I begin to think maybe I should lower my standard. Maybe I should change the area so it meets my budget. Maybe I should think of a different type of house.I even paid for a place but thank God for my parents they insisted I not live there cause they knew it wasn’t a good fit
Henceforth I carried my mummy along and we saw some places together and she would advise me because she is very house savvy and knows quality. Well a few months later I found the perfect match. It took much longer than I expected but I did find it .
Recently, I stumbled on list I wrote when looking for a house. I was in awe because it matched what I ended up getting. I had forgotten about how detailed the list was. Now here is the catch I got the house I wanted & had to compromise on a few minor things.
But those enhance my living experience. A few weeks ago, I went to one of the apartment complexes I was gonna live in and I was shook. It was so run down!! I recall again that place had been an option out of desperation. But it was a friend that convinced me not to get it.
There key elements to this experience that can be applied to many things- the power of writing down what you want & envisioning it.Getting advice from those with wisdom. Finally being willing to compromise on things that won’t take away from the experience but can make you better
I have a similar story with our salon space. I apply this to other things - my career , my relationships , my business. Because God always uses it to remind me. “Bolanle I can exceed your expectations.” And God does & will. So I am reminding myself & you- Do NOT SETTLE.
