2. Fascists also attacked the Mapuche people in Victoria, as they held a sit in at the municipality in solidarity with political prisoners in Temuco, Angol and Lebu. 4. Mapuche Indigenous leader Machi Celestino Córdova recently announced he would no longer consume even liquids. In an audio from Temuco Prison, he called on his people to not let down their guard in the fight for Mapuche territorial recovery, even if he dies in hunger strike.
5. The Machi was sentenced to 18 years and had asked to serve his time in his community. Most of other Mapuche political prisoners are locked up in PRE-trial detention—without presumption of innocence—all while Chile's govt granted pardons to 13,000 prisoners due to COVID-19.
6. Primary demand of Machi Celestino Córdova is the Chilean state's recognition of their right to participate in ancestral ceremonies, as per UNDRIP & ILO Convention 169.
