Exposing WayV fanbase accounts — a long overdue thread
The most prominent debate within our fandom has been whether or not WayV is the chinese subunit of NCT, this is largely due to international self-proclaimed “weishennies” attacking others, gatekeeping WayV, and gaslighting newer fans. These “weishennies” are running a lot of
WayV fanbase accounts, which wouldn’t be an issue if they stayed objective and focused on WayV and not their stance on this debate, but if that were the case we wouldn’t be here.
@/wayvpictures - a fanbase account dedicated to pictures of WayV and sometimes translations. On June 6, 2020 Xiaojun went live on IG and saw a reply from a fan commenting on it being Haechan’s birthday. Xiaojun replies wishing him a happy birthday and saying he saw the
birthday ads. While most unbiased translators wrote exactly what he said, wayvpics translated one sentence and made it seem like Xiaojun didn’t care whose birthday it was: i.e. the laughing emoji. On top of that, wayvpics liked an antis tweet claiming WayV don’t know NCT.
Korean-speaking fans corrected wayvpics, because what Xiaojun said couldn’t have been possibly translated to “congratulations” without some sort of ulterior motive. Instead of owning up to this “mistake,” wayvpics lied and said they had been hacked.
the tweet about the hacking was also deleted within 20 minutes.
In addition: wayvpics has been around for 2 years, which means they were there for the announcement of WayV in 2018/2019. They went from being ot21 and understanding THAAD issues to disrespecting the relationship WayV has with NCT members.
They now align with the idea most weishennies also believe in.
@/Wayvunion - WayV’s first international fanbase. Although WayV’s fandom color was announced as green in 2019, wayvunion’s layout and their website is entirely red. They also only use red hearts in their tweets and responses, which relates to the weishennie ( #redforwayv) goal
to change the fandom color, the one WayV chose themselves. Speaking of “weishennie” - it’s not the official fandom name but what WayV fans go by on stan twt - the toxic few that don’t want WayV affiliated with NCT. They call “WayZenNi” their government name/they hate it.
Wayvunion continues to use the name “weishennie” to solidify their stance on the wayv is/isn’t nct debate, but then proceeds to go on weibo where cfans are proudly ot21, and suddenly uses WayZenNi with green hearts, as if not to reveal how they truly act on stan twt.
It’s hypocritical and deceiving to both international fans and cfans. Why don’t they use WayZenNi on stan twt too?
They’re also known as an “international fanbase” but only have tutorials for chinese apps. While it’s perfectly fine for international fans to help with chinese streaming,
why doesn’t the biggest WayV fanbase with at least 98% international followers have tutorials for other streaming sites? Especially after cfans have said how much they love global support for WayV and WayV has professed themselves as a global group?
Instead, wayvunion leads with the idea that in order to properly support WayV, fans must use QQ and Weibo. It’s clear wayvunion should just be called a chinese/domestic fanbase for WayV.
