i'm still thinking about canon classes for each of the characters, RW!Penelo is straight up just a White Mage so i need to look at her Tactics A2 info to get a better idea

this is fun!

in TA2 Penelo is a Dancer, which is a kind of Mage mage class that can use Staves, Rods, Knives, and Poles, and her dances here would be equivalent to Slow, Wither, Addle, and Shades of Black, but those are all spread out among mostly non-magical classes

the wiki points out that these moves would be considered Green Magick in TA2, but god that used to encompass all status spells before Zodiac

right now it looks like her second job would be either Black Mage, Shikari, or Monk

sidenote, i'm assuming here that each character's summon is the same as their boss esper in RW, so Penelo will have Ultima here

why am i trying to make the "most canon" version of characters i don't own, instead of creatively coming up with my own spin on the characters? because i've already done the second one and the act of adapting characters to other frameworks is endlessly fascinating to me, now shut

interestingly, a lot of the kinda weird stuff in other games (like Basch knowing Protectga and Shellga) makes sense when you realize that pretty much every status spell was made to be Green Magick accessible to any character, aside from just gameplay necessitating those abilities

looking it up now, Basch could actually learn those two spells as a Monk if he summoned Chaos, and his RW summon Zalera would also give him Traveler, which matches up well with one of his lategame skills in RW

decisions, decisions...

*RW esper, not summon, each character needs to beat a specific esper to get their quickening

FUCK, Chaos is Kytes's RW esper, i forgot about him

also Filo's esper is Mateus, so gotta keep that in mind

i respect RW's decision to have each character's quickening actually be a unique ultimate with their own properties, but the combo system in ff12 is one of the most fun mechanics i've ever played around with

i started this thread looking up Penelo but now i'm on Basch

okay so Shikari could also work for the defensive spells but only if he can summon Cú Chulainn (which he can!) it would also give him some cool Ninja Swords and Knives but i was thinking of giving Knives to Penelo...
