Bisaya Discrimination and Bullying in the Philippines // A thread:

Insulting Bisaya in the PH has been normalize to the point that their call to stop it is invalidated with some Filipinos saying Bisaya has victim mentality.
Bisaya people are from Visayas and Mindanao (Central & Southern Philippines). Since these regions are not as developed as the north, some of the poor bisayas have to go to Manila to work for low paying jobs like construction and house helper.
Philippine media and entertainment portray them as house maids / people who works in low paying jobs. Thus, they have been stereotyped as that and other Filipinos use it to insult them.
Bisaya has thick accent when speaking Tagalog so they have always been made fun of and mocked for their accent. When non-bisaya mispronounce words, they would be like "parang bisaya" (like a bisaya) then laugh at it.
When Philippines representative for Miss Universe 2019 made it to TOP 20, but did not advanced to TOP 10, a Filipina reacted saying Bisaya are low class. This an example of them looking down on Bisaya people.
When a tiktok influencer was called out for his stupidity, a reply from a celebrity's tweet said he is like that (stupid) because he is from Visayas.

*If he's stupid then he is stupid. Him coming from VisMin has nothing to do w/ it.
When the Top 10 in 2016 Bar Exam were all from VisMin universities, some people from Luzon said "We can now expect a breed of low quality lawyers."

I remember the comments on facebook when the Top10 was released. It was disgusting & insulting. I wanted to k-word people.
Kpop fans insulting bisaya too?
I stayed silent all these years but I can't take it anymore with this recent bisaya discrimination. Kim Arda doesn't deserve this.
I'm asking everyone, local or international, to spread and use the hashtag #StopBisayaDiscrimination as a call for Filipinos to stop bullying and insulting Bisaya. Let's all make a stand to stop this so we can live in a better society.
