I wonder how Kaepernick feels with this current wave of BLM on everything and every team kneeling. I wouldn’t be surprised if he found it all incredibly frustrating.
Now kneeling is seen as the default decision for a player, but when Kap was doing it he was damn near by himself. He did it when it wasn’t a trend. When there was risk. Now it almost feels like it doesn’t mean anything,.
NFL even came out and said their reaction to kneeling was wrong. And didn’t even mention how they treated Kaep. Or say his name at all. Very disrespectful.
That hooper who didn’t kneel or put BLM on his jersey had an asinine reason for it. But I wasn’t mad at the action itself cause at this point a lot of guys are only doing it because everyone else is doing it.
And the argument of “well it’s raising awareness” is weak. In my opinion, awareness was never really the issue. And it definitely isn’t the issue now. It was actually caring enough to stand for something even if it was controversial.
Bron and some other NBA players have done great things for the community. And Bron’s been very vocal on topics like BLM and racism in the past. But what Kap did hit different cause he got blasted for it daily and stood tall.
Maya Moore also doesn’t get enough credit. She literally put her career on pause to fight for justice. She’s a GOAT on and off the court.
