Are your affairs in order?

Do you have a will? Have you named a guardian for your children? Are all your accounts listed someplace? Bank, retirement, insurance?

Did you write down all your passwords someplace your spouse/kids/executor can find them?
Have you decided if you’ll be buried or cremated? Did you pick a few readings, hymns, or poems you want read at your funeral?

Did you burn those letters you want NO ONE to read? Or did you leave specific instructions about them?

Who gets your jewelry?
Who will control your intellectual property? Who will hold the copyrights to the books you’ve written?

Who will inherit your digital presence? Your twitter account, your Instagram, your website, etc, with all those thousands of followers?
Are you gonna leave a gigantic, tangled fucking mess behind you? Are the people who should be grieving your death going to be spending weeks sorting out your rat’s nest of finances, debt, assets, insurance policies, liens, property, household goods and crap?
Or are you gonna make it easy on them?
Are your affairs in order?

I ask this because I know someone who’s affairs are NOT in order. And when I saw him in Wednesday, he didn’t expect to be at death’s door tonight.
