A THREAD: how I turned a synthetic clown wig into a lovely orange afro💕💕
When it comes to buying afro wigs, black women face the problem of afro wigs either being overly expensive or just straight-up low quality. However I've been wearing afro wigs for a year now and I've used methods to dye these wigs&customize them without spending so much money
Here's how I turned a cheap clown wig into a professional afro ( I do this all the time whenever I want a new wig to wear )
I wanted my hair to be a nice orange color however the week that I thought was synthetic and synthetic wigs are almost impossible to dye. However I solved this problem by buying fabric dye instead. If you want to dye your synthetic wigs buy Rit Fabric Dye SYNTHETIC:
This works extremely well. All you have to do is boil water with this fabric dye and put your hair inside.

The downside to this is that boiling synthetic hair ruins its pattern so after dying it, it came out ugly looking however things get worse before it gets better
Since the texture was ruined through boiling I had to bring the texture back by buying skewers and rolling the hair up in them. This is how it looked
After putting the hair and skewers, I boiled it again with the skewers on. The reason why I did this is because heat applied to any sort of texturizer will create a permanent texture. After I boiled it I took out the skewers and this was the result:
After that, i brushed out the curls so it would give it a frizzy afro texture.
I brushed everything out and it turned out looking amazing. Everything was so nice and even in the afro was a perfect circle 😩👌🏾💕
Important tips
When texturising your wig into a perfectly even afro make sure you brush out curl by curl. Take your time and be patient if you want your hair to be even and neat. Your hair will end up looking uneven if you don't take your time and brush it in order
But anyways, the end result was beautiful ❤
Fun fact: you can tye it up into a cute style as well
