The response to this piece in the last few days has been absolutely amazing & I’m just really grateful that I was able to tell a small part of Rafa’s story.

In his junior year of high school, Silva says that his fear of public speaking came to a head, as he remembers involuntarily sweating & losing his voice while giving a presentation on Maya Angelou in history class. In order to face his fear, he signed up for a play at his school.

A day after completing his screen test for #911LoneStar, which he thought he had blown, Silva was watching a movie at a local cinema in California when he received a call from his agent and his manager.

Fearing the worst, he received some news that would change his life forever.
. @ActuallyRafa: “I’m very close to my mom & she is somebody I’ve always watched throughout my life. She’s the type of person that if a thought comes up, she gathers her things & goes to do it. So growing up, watching somebody like that, I took it upon myself to mirror her.” 🇧🇷❤️
