I didn’t expect this post to blow up, but BLACK LIVES STILL MATTER and here’s what you can do to support the cause (even though it’s not trending anymore) ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
PLEASE READ THIS: Tamla Harsford was a 40 year old mother of 5 boys and a daughter. On November 4th, 2018, she was brutally beaten and murdered by the women in this photo (along with 3 other men who are not pictured here).
Tamla arrived at the party around 8:30 PM. Not even a full 12 hours later, unbeknownst to her, she would die. The homeowner’s aunt discovered her battered & brutally beaten body at 7:30 AM. The authorities were not called until around 9:30 AM, 2 hours later.
Pictured here is Tamla at the party (in the middle with the white onesie on) with 5 of the 7 women at the “sleepover” with her. Another 3 MEN were also there at the time. And out of these 10 people, NONE OF THEM have a tangible explanation as to what happened to her.
Tamla was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body sent for autopsy. But even before the report came back, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office began to work the theory that Horsford’s death had been an “accident,” a fall from the second-story outdoor deck.
When they closed the case, the department released the incident report and death investigation to the public. But these documents didn’t provide the answers Horsford’s family and friends were looking for — in fact, they only caused more confusion.
How could a house full of people, some asleep for less than a half hour, not hear Horsford fall to her death right outside their windows? Could a 15-to-20-foot fall cause not only death, but a dislocated wrist, broken neck, and laceration to her heart muscle?
And would the investigation have gone differently if Horsford wasn’t the only Black person at the party? These are the basic facts about Tamla’s case, but this is just the tip of the iceberg and there is SO much more to know!
I’m still learning more & more about this case, so I apologize in advance for any minute discrepancies (some reports say she was found at 8:45, some say 8:30, some reports say there were 12 people present, some say 10 were). So please, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH TOO! 🙏🏽
Tamla Harsford is a perfect example of what us black women have been saying for a LONG TIME now: Black women are disproportionately unprotected, and our cases of unjust harm and maltreatment are even more swept under the rug than you may think.
So I’d like to close this thread off with a quote from Malcolm X that STILL rings as true today in 2020 as it did back in 1962. LISTEN to black women, RESPECT black women, LOVE black women and PLEASE PROTECT BLACK WOMEN. Our lives matter too. ✊🏽❤️🖤💚👑👑👑
