Thread on a few things I learned looking 🔙 over the last FPL season that I am looking to improve for next year and hopefully will help a few people out also❗️
1/ Planning for the long term:
One of the biggest "mistakes" I made last year was bringing in too many short term picks when on wc or at the start of the game...
When the fixtures turned they were transfers waiting to happen and restricted the effectiveness of my transfers...
As well as this, other players got injured forcing me into hits that were unnecessary and easily avoidable with some long term planning!
Picking players that you are happy to own for several gameweeks allows you to use transfers aggressively and chase points from inform players!
2/ Transfers:
One thing I found throughout the season was that 2 transfers can be used to much greater effect than just one...
Generally, 2 transfers can get you to almost any player in the game and can make a real difference in a gw!
Therefore, one thing I’m trying to do....
For next season is to “roll” my free transfer wherever possible and have 2 free transfers as often as I can...
This also helps reduce the amount of hits taken which is also quite beneficialđź‘Ť
3/ Captaincy:
I struggled the whole season with captaincy as seen below! Some of my picks were poor decisions and other slightly unlucky(Salah gw 35 and 36)
Something I have noticed the top managers such as @MagnusCarlsen @lateriser12 doing is captain an inform player ...
For numerous weeks in a row, knowing the player will eventually return big consistently... Magnus in particular captained Salah almost every week mid season and it really worked!
I think this strategy may fix my captaincy problems as it’s much easier to see an inform player...
... than to predict who the top scorer in your team will be each week... Often times the less decisions you make the better!
4/ Panic:
One of the most important things I’ve learned about FPL this season is about panic.
This can be after a bad game week, some troll early team news or even trying to beat a pricerise!
Something I did was to logoff after a bad week or injury to a player etc...
And to come back to it at a later date closer to the deadline... I’ve now started making most of my transfers the day before/ morning of the deadline allowing time to check stats, pressers etc... and would very much recommend this for anyone who makes “rage transfers” regularly!
5/ Finally, I would say to go with your own picks as well as getting advice from twitter. It is much more rewarding when differentials you brought in do really well than when Twitters bandwagon returns! For me this was getting Vardy and Son early at the start and Raz vs Pool!
End of thread!
