A thread of tips that could save your life one day.
1. This one is pretty obvious but if you suspect that a stranger is following you, take 4 right turns. If they are still behind you then they are definitely following you.
2. Before you get into an uber or taxi, take a note of its number. If the driver acts strange, call (or pretend to call) someone then tell them the taxi’s number. Doing this will help the person you’re on the phone to call the police.
3. If you’re trying to escape a car by breaking its windows, aim for the edges of the window instead of the centre. That will break the glass easily. If you don’t have a sharp object to break it with, remove one of the car headrests and use the metal parts to break the windows.
4. If your attacker is on top of you and trying to choke you, stiffen your fingers and poke the attacker’s throat as hard as you can. Then grab the attacker’s head towards you and immediately poke their eye sockets with your thumbs. Here’s a demonstration by Dave and Dheana.
5. If your house unexpectedly smells like urine or fish, switch off the electricity completely until you find out what the problem is. Chances are that the electrical wires in your house might be melting which can cause a fire or even an explosion.
6. Don’t use bleach and cleaning products that contain ammonia at the same time or in the same room. Using these together will create a toxic gas called chloramine which will harm your health and cause severe breathing problems.
7. If you have a car always take a good look around it before you use it. There might be objects on your car or underneath your car that can put you at risk of being robbed or kidnapped.
8. If you think you have a heatstroke, eat something sweet. If it tastes disgusting then you’re definitely having a heatstroke and you should seek medical help as soon as you can.
9. If you’re being chased by an attacker (or a dangerous animal) or someone is trying to shoot you from behind, don’t run in a straight direction. Run in a zig zag pattern. This will confuse them completely.
10. Leaving a bottle of water under direct sunlight for too long can cause a fire. Don’t leave bottles of water in cars on a hot day, and keep them far away from windows.
That’s all for this thread. These situations are unlikely but anything can happen. Stay safe👍🏾
