1./ A young Igbo man went to the home of his mentor. He was boiling with rage. Mentor sat him down and asked what the problem was.

“Dede! I am mad! I am so mad now. Can you imagine what I found out? That Jezebel I’m married to has deceived me for years.”
2./ “As part of the requirements for processing our Canadian immigration papers, we had to run DNA tests for all the children.” Chima paused to take a deep breath at this juncture.

“Dee! The results are out and I discovered that 1 of my 3 children isn’t mine.”
3./ “Dee you’re so blessed. Your generation didn’t play these tricks. Look at you and Daa; 8 children and none of all this. Ordinary 3 children and this Jezebel I married brought a strange child in. I’m so confused now Dee. What am I to do? She has to leave with that child.”
4./ Chima was incensed and his voice was rising. “I will stay with the 2 who belong to me.” He said.

Chief Atueyi laughed mirthlessly . . . After his laughter died down, he said to his young mentee. “Chima, listen to me. You youngsters are so quick to judge and react to things.
5./ You need to calm down.” Chief called out; “Eze! Eze!!” His 3rd son came in, then he sent him off on some errand after the young man greeted his guest. He called his fourth daughter. She came in, greeted her father’s guest and was sent off on another errand.
6./ Finally, chief called his 7th child in. He also greeted the guest and left.

“Chima! Chima!! What would you say if I tell you that these 3 children, of the 8 borne to me by my wife, your aunty are not mine? I have known this for years. But your aunty is a good wife to me
7./ and a great woman. I am not entirely blameless myself and I see no mileage in embarrassing her or breaking up my home in order to score points.

Ask yourself what you stand to gain or lose by the decision to keep or discard your wife. Then be guided in the choice you make.”
8./ “There’s no right or wrong in this matter. What has worked for me may not work for you. Look inwards and decide what your heart and your life need. Not what your ego needs.”

Chief got up and left his mentee in the living room where he sat.

THE END.
